OAPI joins the Lisbon Agreement on Appellations of Origin and Geographical Indications

WIPO reports on the accession of the African Intellectual Property Organization (OAPI) to The Geneva Act of the Lisbon Agreement on Appellations of Origin and Geographical Indications.

This will allow international registration of geographical indication in 17 African countries including Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Chad, Côte d’Ivoire, Mali, Senegal, etc.

The Geneva Act will enter into force with respect to OAPI on March 15, 2023.
