Waymo, a subsidiary company owned by Google developing technology for driverless cars, achieved a partial success against Uber in a lawsuit for theft of confidential information.
The case concerns a former Waymo’s employee who allegedly took 14 000 pages of information leaving the company. After that, the same person set up its own company starting developing a similar technology which was acquired by Uber for 680 million dollars.
According to Waymo, Uber is using their confidential information in its researches.
The court gave an injunction to prevent the employee in question working on the technology. However, Uber won the right to keep their driverless car program alive for the time being.
